Deepika Padukone is the highest paid actress in the industry. From Shantipriya to Padmavati, Deepika has given us outstanding performances time and again. Despite of suffering through depression at a certain point of her life, Deepika fought her way to the top, taking down all other competition in the hurricane when she took over bollywood as its queen. Before becoming an actress, Deepika was a successful Badminton player and then later a model. She started her modelling career with an advertisement for Limca. From then, to now, Deepika has a graph which says ‘the sky is the limit’. Today, she is popular all over the world with her Hollywood movie, XXX: Return of Xander Cage, where she co-starred with Dwayne Johnson. Through the years Deepika has groen exponentially as an actor and has many achievements under her belt.
Here are Deepika’s best performances which made us fall in love with her over and over again.
Om Shanti Om
Deepika Padukone started her career with Shahrukh Khan by her side. Deepika played retro beauty in Om Shanti Om, a double-role. Deepika made us fall in love with her dimple and seasoned acting. Her role in the film did not seem like it had been played by a rookie.
Love Aaj Kal
Meera is a complicated character but Deepika made it look like a breeze. Through the sad scenes to the romantic ones, Deepika did a flawless job.
Deepika played the part of a blind girl who aspired to become a skater. I cannot even fathom the kind of training Deepika went through to learn skating to that level. The role of a blind person could not have been easy but Deepika did it better than any other actress I can think of.
Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se
Though the film did not do well in the box office, we cannot criticize Deepika’s acting. She played the part of a revolutionary Kalpana Datta. The film is set in Chittagong during the freedom struggle. Though I haven’t gotten around the see this movie, it is definitely in my ‘to-watch’ list.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
This is undeniably one of my favorite bollywood movies. This movie is like a milestone in Deepika’s acting career. If you need someone who could portray mixed emotions, Deepika is your girl. How can someone look so happy and so sad? Deepika has done it again with this marvelous film.
I dont care that people say Deepika did not get her accent right. She was amazing. Period. Deepika is one of the most versatile actors in B-town, and this romantic comedy proved it. Her language along with her mannerisms looked l ike she was an authentic Tamilian.
Goliyon Ki Raas Leela- Ram Leela
We all love the girls who know their way with a gun. Deepika(Leela) played the role of a spirited woman who is not afraid to fall in love or do anything to protect her own. She is selfish at the same time fight for the people. Leela is love.
The most difficult part of being a celebrity is to be ordinary, because lets face it, celebrities do not live ordinary lives.
Piku is the story of the life of an ordinary girl. Deepika’s acting looked natural and yet outstanding. The ordinary life of Piku with her difficult father is less ordinary as a movie.
Best Movie Evvveerrrrr. Deepika knows how to dance. Not the bollywood hip moving kind of dance, but she was outstanding in Deewani Mastani and Mohe Rang Do Laal. Deepika danced like a swan and looked too good to be true. Literally.
Though Deepika played less on the screen for this one, she definitely left a mark. Though the movie is not one of the favourites, Deepika was beautiful and glamorous.
