tips for healthy life work-out

In an internet full of motivational articles about the 10 great things about work-out or the 100 reasons why you should exercise, I sit here and write about all the reasons why you should not work out. You might think I am crazy, you might think I’m jealous of thin people, but hear me out.

I have always been a chubby person. Too many people have motivated me to join the gym, or work-out. Even family members have used body-shaming as a method to get me to grow thin, but I have one question for y’all who swear by your gym regime,

“Is being thin that important?”

Don’t get me wrong, gymming and working-out has a large number of benefits, but it is very important that you work out for the right reasons. Remember, your reasons to work-out will be a major factor contributing to your lifestyle.

The most common reason why people who hate exercising, but still do it because they feel fat or someone called them fat. I have seen people go through overly vigorous work-out sessions because they had a fatty meal last night. Well, work-out is not a way to right your wrongs. It is not really a precautionary measure. Also, do not let anyone bully you to workout. They might tell you that you are fat and that you do not look good, what matters more is how you feel about your body. If you are working out because you roommate can wear skimpy clothes and you can’t, nothing can be worse than that. You are basically body-shaming yourself. Be comfortable in your own skin. Exercise must be done at every size. It must be done to feel energized and strong or to feel fit, not to fit into a size or get to your ‘weight goals’. There is really no need to panic if you gain a kilo or two, what matters is how you see yourself.

Exercise is also used as a means of running away from problems; on a treadmill. Exercise is a good way to reduce stress and sometimes even acceptable. But if you get into a habit of exercising whenever you have problems or you are stressed, it basically acts like an unhealthy addiction. It reduces your ability to tackle your problems and solve it, for a change.

Another reason to not exercise is as a way to eat unhealthy. Believe it or not, exercise is meant to go hand in hand with healthy eating. I know that exercising helps in defecting those extra calories that you eat, this habit basically like Bulimia. You eat, and then you workout to get it off of you. This is when you need to set your priorities right. Because if you run for 1 mile, you would lose about 100 calories; even a pack of cookies has an average of 450 calories. It is okay to indulge in treats once in a while, but if you have a diet of potatoes and excessive rice and paranthas, honey you might think its working, but it really isn’t. Instead exercise should be dealt as a way to support a healthy lifestyle.

Instead, here are a few right reasons to exercise:

1. Decreased risk of death due to cardiovascular diseases.
2. Exercise can work as an anti-deppressant
3. Can boost memory and learning( Studies have shown that exercising helps in generating new brain neurons).
4. It strengthens bones against fractures.
5. Can help fight insomnia.
6. It gets rid of bad fat and makes use of good fats.
7. Can wipe out existing allergies.
8. People who exercise tend to live longer(unless you come under a bus while jogging with earphones on. Take care!)

Exercise is essential for everyone to be a fit person which leads to a happier and healthier life. If you do not like exercising, you can opt for cycling, walking or running to places. Working out or hitting the gym for the right reasons will bring your mind to a healthy place along with your body.
